Embroidery

It is difficult to find a hobby that would not be considered useless by anyone. That is why it is still worth reckoning with such a venerable hobby and debunking the main myths about it.

Embroidery is an exclusively female occupation. There is no need to dissemble and deny that the majority of women are engaged in embroidery. However, men also often engage in this hobby. In some Asian countries it is generally accepted that embroidery is an exclusively male and traditional occupation. And children will only benefit from embroidery, because it develops motor skills, imagination, makes kids more assiduous. The hobby is believed to be popular with doctors, especially dentists. After all, thanks to embroidery, they gain the necessary practice, getting used to making more accurate stitches.

Cross stitching is pretty easy. They talk about cross-stitching so often that this activity seems quite ordinary, and therefore simple. Indeed, it is not so difficult to learn this technique, but at the same time it is necessary to monitor the evenness of the stitches and the quality of the seamy side, and general accuracy is still required. But in addition to the traditional cross, there is also a double-sided, asymmetrical, double Italian, and so on. So it's really easy to learn how to embroider, but correct and beautiful embroidery means hard and painstaking work.

Usually people embroider primitive motifs such as flowers. You should not limit your arsenal of knowledge about embroidery to those that were obtained once upon a time in labor lessons at school. Today, much more varied schemes have appeared, which imply a rich plot and complex performance technique.

Embroidery is absolutely useless in terms of personal development. Even if this is so, embroidery has another advantage - it perfectly calms the nerves. At the same time, it allows those who have a penchant for innovation to realize themselves. After all, it is often necessary to solve the traveling salesman problem - bypassing several disparate sections using a minimum of threads. There is a large field for imagination, which involves the use of threads of different colors, making changes to an already finished scheme. An experienced embroiderer will eventually start experimenting with floss shades, fabric structure and colors. As a result, the finished design will change significantly. Isn't it creativity that is part of personal growth?

Dating on embroidery forums often grows into already strong offline friendships. People find people from the outset by a common interest, and speak on completely different topics. So embroidery is just an excuse to get acquainted.

You can embroider any picture, you just need to first pass it through a special computer program. So can say someone who has not tried to do it. Any embroidery program at the exit will give a mess of scattered crosses, faces have a greenish tint, and hair in general can turn blue. We need to check how many colors will be in the generated scheme. After all, even the most experienced needlewoman usually uses no more than 40 colors, however, some extreme women bring this number to 75. It is necessary to check whether the dimensions of the finished embroidery are off scale for half a meter? After sewing off such a work may take several years, the result will be extremely doubtful. So such "ready-made" schemes still require a lot of cleaning, processing and correction, most of the shades will have to be changed. And does the size of the finished embroidery go beyond 50 cm? Sewing off such a "work" may take several years, and the result is more than doubtful. Yes, and contour scrubs will have to think.

There are many anecdotes about embroidery. In fact, only two of them are popular:

A guy meets a girl at a disco:
- Girl, do you dance?
- I dance, and I dance, and I sing ...
- What are you weaving?!?
- I whip, I cross-stitch, I knit ...

The second one sounds like this:

I cross stitch, sew and knit. Now I'm looking for a fool who will wear all this.

Embroidery is boring. In fact, the craftswomen do not think so. Our life has already become so turbulent that sometimes we want to spend some time in peace and quiet, to think about important things. You can embroider with your favorite music and with the voice of an audio book. The TV can work in the background, although it is better to choose some kind of non-spectacular program, otherwise you will have to constantly be distracted by special effects.

UNESCO has included Lithuanian cross-stitch embroidery in the list of objects of international heritage. A message about this appeared on the Russian part of the Internet in May 2001, and since then has regularly appeared on various forums devoted to embroidery. In fact, this fact does not correspond to reality. At one time, a mysterious translator, when translating into Russian, misinterpreted the term "cross crafting". The phrase was translated as "cross stitch". In fact, it was about unique wooden crosses that Lithuanian craftsmen carved from oak four centuries ago. It was these creations that were included in the list of objects of world heritage of the respected organization.

Embroidery is a rather expensive hobby. To say that embroidery costs a penny is to deceive. However, a novice craftswoman may well find a set for her wallet. There are many offers from domestic and foreign manufacturers in Russia now. Real fans of this hobby already allow themselves expensive devices. But even if we are talking about frames or machines, these acquisitions are still one-time, because they will serve for many years without replacement. Serious embroidery kits are quite expensive, with some of them going up to $ 50. However, it is worth considering that a working woman on a good picture will work for a couple of months. So, dividing the amount by this period, it turns out that spending is not so terrible. You can also save money by participating in a sale or by purchasing an already used scheme. But baguette services are considered to be really expensive, but they do not quite relate directly to the embroidery process.

Nobody needs embroidery at all. In fact, with its help, you can give even the most ordinary dwelling your own face, emphasize its individuality. As a result, the apartment will turn into a real home. Also, embroidery will help hide spots or holes on children's clothes, with the help of this hobby, original cards and Christmas tree decorations are born. So there are still quite a few places for applying such skill.
